The Art And Science Of Allowing

The Art And Science Of Allowing

The process of creation is so simple:

Know what you want.

Believe you can have it.

Take action to create it.

Receive it.

But putting these concepts into practice can feel challenging at times.  How many times have you worried, wondered and or even stomped your feet with frustration, because what you want isn’t showing up in your life?

You know, I consider myself to be a least a little knowledgeable about how the world works.  I know that where my attention and energy goes is where I get results in my life.  What I focus on is what I create in my life.

I know to get what I want I have to know what I want, believe I can have it and take action to get it.

And there is nothing in my life that I didn’t place in it, either deliberately or by default.

I have lots of evidence in my life that this whole process of creation works.  I have used it successfully with miraculous results over and over again in my life.  Ask. Believe. Act. Receive.

In fact, my whole business has been built with this model of creation.

But sometimes it just seems that my desired manifestations are not arriving fast enough.

Or some of what I want shows up but not everything.  A close hit but not quite what I asked for.

Sometimes it seems that I have followed a blind alley and I am stuck and frustrated looking at a brick wall when I expected to enter a beautiful castle. And, because I know I created the brick wall, I have to spend hours reviewing the thought processes that brought me to that dead-end.

I’m still a student of God.  I am still learning.

There are two main reasons that I end up in blind alleys:

1.  I am not really asking for what I really want.

2.  I don’t believe that I can have what I want.

Usually these two reasons go hand in hand:

I don’t ask for what I really want because I don’t believe that I can have what I really want.

It’s too big.  I don’t know how.  I’ve never experienced that reality before.  Every time I’ve asked for what I wanted I just get disappointed so why bother risking the heartache again?  Etc. Etc. Etc.

How many times have you hidden your real dreams away from yourself because you are afraid they can’t or won’t come true?  Or maybe you believe that if your dream comes true then others will suffer or you’ll feel greedy, guilty or ashamed to have such big desires.

And how many times have you compromised or settled for a lesser dream because you didn’t believe that you could actually have what you want, exactly the way you want it?  Or even better than what you want?

If you are like most people, you have probably experienced these thoughts somewhere along your creative process.

We have a lot personal and collective limiting thoughts about big dreams coming true.  We are taught from an early age to be “realistic” in our expectations or to not ask for “too much”.

Consequently, as these limiting beliefs are cultivated in our consciousness, we begin to create experiences from an early age to support our limiting beliefs, building a giant network of patterns and habits that keep us trapped in believing that we can’t have what we want.

In order to release these limiting beliefs we have to cleanse our thought patterns and begin the process of collecting new data to support our new beliefs.  If we change our focus from our compromised dreams and disappointments to our new, authentic big dreams, it is Universal Law that our outer experience will change.

But, only in accordance with the degree to which we can expand our thinking and dreaming AS WELL AS our beliefs, that it really is perfect to receive everything we want and more!!

In other words, if you want your big dreams to come true, you have to steadfastly hold on to a vision of their manifestation, KNOW that you can have your dream and NEVER look at the temporary outer reality that might not immediately reflect your shift in thinking.

Of course, this is a creation strategy that may require some practice and even personal healing before you can successfully dream big and stay out of doubt and fear.

The past is in the past and you are living, in this exact moment in a pure creative space.  The past does not dictate who you are and you can choose to set yourself free to dream big right now!

Are you ready?

The first step in allowing yourself to get what you really want is to discover what you really want.  Although this is a place where I (and many of my clients) get stuck, it is really quite simple to get to the heart of your authentic desires.

Knowing what you really want simply requires that you ask yourself one simple question:

Does your dream excite you?

Notice that I wrote EXCITE.  That is not the same as feeling relieved, relaxed, secure or confident.  Excitement is pure creative energy.  Feeling excited serves as a catalyst for the rest of the creative process.

Think about it.  Isn’t it easy to do something that we feel excited about?  Isn’t your whole being filled with joyful anticipation and energy to surge forward and do whatever it takes to make it happen?

When a dream is exciting, your motivation comes from pure desire. This is very different than having dreams related to doing the things you SHOULD do.  A dream goes beyond what you should do to what you truly want to do.

Big difference.

How many of you are struggling to do what is “right” or what you “should” do and are struggling with resistance and feeling no excitement whatsoever about your intention?

It is absolutely possible for you to have your dreams come true and still be responsible.

Do you believe that statement?

If so, you are well on your way to making your dreams come true.

If not, I gently suggest that you go to EFT For Everyone, download this manual, watch the video and begin to use EFT immediately to remove this limiting belief out of your head.

The EFT setup phrase for this is:

“Even though I believe that I can’t have what I want and still be responsible, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.”

The second step is identifying any limiting beliefs that you may have about allowing what you desire into your life.

Try this:

To do this exercise you will need a piece of paper, a pen and about 20 minutes.

1.) Write an imaginary story about what it is going to be like when every aspect of your dream comes true.  Be sure to include a date and lots and lots of details.

Here is the beginning of an example:

MY NEW HOUSE

It is 5:00 in the morning on Friday, September 16, 2005.  My room is dark and the house is still.  My children are all still asleep.  I love the gentle quiet of the morning.  I go downstairs and get a cup of steaming hot espresso coffee from my new Starbucks thermos coffee maker.  I take my delicious coffee back up to my bedroom and start my day in my brand new house.

I love this house.  It is big and old and filled with rich character.  I love the way my room is upstairs, quiet and free from the chaos downstairs.  I love that the kids have so much room to play and have friends over and that the house is always filled with the laughter and sounds of kids.

Are you ready?  Put on some fun music, get out your notebook and start dreaming!

When you are done, remember to celebrate!  Get up and dance!  Move your body!  Groove your soul!!

2.) There are only two kinds of emotions, ones that feel good  and ones that don’t feel good.  Or, stated in a different way, there are feelings that feel good and feelings that feel bad.  Both kinds of feelings are essential to our well being, for they tell us where we are in relation to where we want to be.  Energetically, we are hard-wired to feel good when we are where we want to be.  Happiness and joy are our natural emotional states.

When you are pursuing your desires in an unlimited way, you will experience good feelings.  You will be in a joyful state.  In other words, when you know what you want, believe without a doubt that you can have what you want and you are taking deliberate actions to create what you want, you feel good.

Your emotions are your inner navigational system.  How you feel at any given point in time indicates how close you are to believing that you can actually have what it is you desire.

For example, let’s say that you want a new, expensive car.  In your mind you know exactly what kind of car you want, what color, the style of interior and the model.  Every time you think about this car or every time you see one of those cars on the road, you notice the car, but seeing it makes you feel sad and frustrated.

You feel sad and frustrated because you believe that, although you really like this car, you’ll never have one of your own because you will never be able to afford one.  Or that people like you don’t drive cars like that.  Or whatever limiting belief you may be experiencing…

Sadness and frustration can be characterized as negative or bad feelings.  When you are experiencing sadness and frustration (or any other emotions that don’t feel good) your emotional navigation system is telling you that something you are thinking about or doing is out of alignment with your desire.

In other words, you want the car, but you don’t believe you can have it.

Anytime you experience negative feelings, they are communicating to you that what you are thinking about or what you are doing is blocking you from creating what you really want.  The stronger the feelings, the deeper the resistance you have to your desire.

Step two of this process involves you learning to listen to your emotional navigation system.  I want you to pay attention to your dreams and how they make you feel.

Reread your dream story that you wrote yesterday.  With a red pen or pencil write how each part of the statement makes you feel and why you think you feel that way.

Here is an example:

It is 5:00 in the morning on Friday, September 16, 2005. (Sad and frustrated.  I’ll never have the money for a new house by that date).  My room is dark and the house is still.  My children are all still asleep.  I love the gentle quiet of the morning (Exhausted and sad.  I am always too tired to get up in the morning.  How am I ever going to get the time to take care of myself or be disciplined enough to get up early.  I’ve never been successful at any kind of discipline before.).

I love that the kids have so much room to play and have friends over and that the house is always filled with the laughter and sounds of kids (Sad because, although I love the idea of having lots of kids at my house, I wonder how am I going to feed them all?  And is it possible for us to have enough room for my son’s teenage friends to feel comfortable in our house.  Can I really afford a house big enough for all of us?)

The purpose of this exercise is NOT to make you feel bad or to encourage you to focus on your negative feelings.  The purpose of this exercise is to help you identify where you may have limiting beliefs.

Use EFT to tap on any of your resistant beliefs related to your dreams.

Here are some sample setups from the dream example:

Even though I don’t believe that I will have the money to buy the house, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.

Even though I don’t believe that I have enough time to take care of myself, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.

Even though I don’t believe that I can ever be disciplined, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.

Even though I’m frustrated that I’ll never have enough money to take care of myself and my children the way I want to, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.

3.)The last step in creating a new state of allowing is giving yourself permission to release the past.  I have used this technique with great success in my own life and I am excited to share it with you.

To do the last step you will need at least 20 minutes of uninterrupted time.  Sit in a comfortable chart and relax, close your eyes and do the following visualization.

See yourself standing outside in a beautiful garden.  You are wearing the most beautiful clothes that you have ever seen.  Feel the softness and magnificence of the fibers of your clothes.  Notice yourself and allow a large beam of light to wash over you.  Observe yourself standing bathed in light and radiating the pure magnificence that is you.  When you really can feel and see yourself say to yourself these magical words:

I’m sorry.  I forgive you for all your limiting beliefs.  I love you.

Let those words wash over you and really feel the power of those words echo into the depths of your cells.  Stay with this vision and feeling until you feel ready to bring your awareness back to the room.

When you can truly connect with your Magnificence, then you will see that all things are possible for you and NOTHING can hold you back from your dreams.

You can have it all!

So, are you ready to let go of the past and all limiting beliefs that have kept you settling for less than what you truly desire?
